The global community and the war on terrorism: threat or opportunity? – Ebtisam Al kitbi

The present intervention seeks to examine whether current counter-terrorism policies have undergone any fundamental change or whether they will only be a continuation of those that already existed. 11th September has changed the international community’s perception of what terrorism is and for the American administration, the fight against terrorism can only be prevented through liberalization and democratization of the Middle Eastern countries. It is examined whether this is a viable solution, how it is being done, its results and so on. It is concluded that it’s unrealistic to solve a profound political-cultural problem by a military solution.
