As I Roved Out is an immersive folk experience that reveals the secrets of the Universe through sound and story with The Bardesse, everywoman time-travelling troubadour, as your guide through time and space. Come join us for a magical evening where you will be immersed in the enchanting world of our ancestors, and let the stories and melodies transport you to another time and place.

Weaving together myth, ancient history and traditional Irish, English, Welsh and Scottish folk songs, this one-woman performance shows us the power of song and story to connect and to heal us across cultures. We will journey out together through time from the very beginning when the first sound waves pulsed through the Universe, gathering in the caves of our earliest ancestors and exploring the origins of music, from the first lullabies sung by our ancient mothers to traditional Celtic folk songs that date back over hundreds of years.

Ballad collector, multi-instrumentalist and storyteller Bronwyn Claire Asha, invites you on a delightful and immersive voyage through the history of song and story to discover just how connected we are to each other, to our earth, and to those we came before us. The future has an ancient heart – will you take up the call in remembrance of it?

With its debut at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2023 to sold out audiences and as featured on BBC Scotland.

What Audiences are Saying:

“This Bardesse is truly on a mission in her "rovings" - to call up ancient tunes and songs and stories and to spread them where'er she goes, to remind us of our connections to one another and to the earth. A stunning voice and impressive chops on the fiddle.” (Jane Fremon)
