RESIDÊNCIA LITERÁRIA DE OUTONO NO PRESTIGIADO IWP – INTERNATIONAL WRITERS PROGRAM da UNIVERSIDADE DE IOWA

Patricia Portela foi selecionada para participar no programa internacional literário na Universidade de Iowa.

Desde que foi fundado em 1967, este programa já acolheu mais de 1400 escritores de mais de 130 países (tendo Almeida Faria sido o único escritor português a participar em 1969) na residência de outono. Incluiu escritores como John Banville (Irlanda, 1980), Bei Dao (China, 1988), Bessie Head (Botswana, 1977), Etgar Keret (Israel 2001), Earl Lovelace (Trinidad, 1980), Arnost Lustig (Czechoslovakia, 1970), Nobel Orhan Pamuk (Turquia, 1985), Edwin Thumboo (Singapura 1977, 1986), Luisa Valenzuela (Argentina, 1969), Nobel Mo Yan (China, 2004), entre outros.

A residência decorrerá entre 24 de agosto e 6 de novembro e a sua participação conta com o apoio do Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs at the U.S. Department of State.

Patrícia Portela foi igualmente convidada pela Universidade a estender a sua estadia em Iowa City como Inaugural Outreach Fellow até 13 de dezembro.

FALL 2013 LITERARY RESIDENCY AT THE IWP -INTERNATIONAL WRITING PROGRAM AT THE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA

Patrícia Portela, has been selected for the 2013 International Writing Program (IWP) at the University of Iowa.

Since 1967, when the IWP was founded, it has hosted more than 1,400 writers from 130 countries during the Fall Residency. It is truly a one-of-a-kind experience for early- to mid-career writers; the alumni roster includes John Banville (Ireland, 1980), Bei Dao (China, 1988), Bessie Head (Botswana, 1977), Etgar Keret (Israel 2001), Earl Lovelace (Trinidad, 1980), Arnost Lustig (Czechoslovakia, 1970), Orhan Pamuk (Turkey, 1985), Edwin Thumboo (Singapore 1977, 1986), Luisa Valenzuela (Argentina, 1969), Mo Yan (China, 2004), and many more.

The residency will start on the 24th of August and end on the 6th of November and she participates courtesy of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. Patricia has also been invited to be the inaugural Outreach Fellow.

This unique fellowship will focus on cultivating public outreach events and reflections based on her expertise and multigenre/media talents and will extend her stay until the 12th of December.
